The Federation of Associations of Counselling Therapists in Saskatchewan

Welcome to FACT-SK

OUR PRIMARY GOAL IS PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC

FACT-SK is working towards regulating Counselling Therapists – Psychotherapists in Saskatchewan

Why We Came Together

At present, there is no government-authorized body to ensure that those claiming to be Counsellors, Addictions Workers and Psychotherapists in Saskatchewan have the competencies and the accountability needed to make their services safe and effective.

The Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists - Psychotherapists in Saskatchewan is the provincial voice of member associations who are pursuing regulation and the development of the Saskatchewan College of Counselling Therapists - Psychotherapists.

What We Do

The Federation is working to establish a College of Counselling Therapists - Psychotherapists to promote and ensure public protection, accessibility and accountability.

The Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists - Psychotherapists in Saskatchewan (FACT-SK) represents 9 professional counselling therapy associations that service all age groups and support the diverse mental health needs of citizens of this province. Our vision is to see the public protected through the regulation of Counselling Therapists - Psychotherapists in Saskatchewan.

Counselling Therapists – Psychotherapists are professionals who are highly trained in being in a therapeutic relationship with children, youth and adult clients, within individual, couple, family and group sessions.

Counselling Therapists – Psychotherapists may belong to different associations, but all share the same, entry-to-practice core competencies, share a commitment to ethical practice within their scope of practice and a commitment for public protection.

Because people are diverse, and one size does not fit all, Counselling Therapists and Psychotherapists are trained to respond in many different ways from traditional talk therapy, to animal assisted therapy, creative arts therapies (music, art, dance) to spiritual therapy.

Counselling Therapists – Psychotherapists provide mental health therapy services to help clients solve emotional, mental health problems, and improve their relationships with self and others

Mission Statement

The Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists in Saskatchewan is the unified voice of its member associations  pursuing regulation to protect the public and ensure accountability across the profession.

Regulating Counselling Therapists – Psychotherapists is not a new idea — Across Canada and the United States counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists are regulated.
